History of Sta. Ignacia Water District

Pursuant to Presidential Decree (PD) No. 198, otherwise known as the “Provincial Water Utilities Act of 1973”, as amended by P.D Nos. 768 and 1479, and by virtue of the Local Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 49, the Santa Ignacia Water District (SIWAD) was officially formed in August, 1988. Upon its completion of all the requirements in converting the same to a Local Water District (LWD), SIWAD was issued a Conditional Certificate of Conformance (COC) No. 413 dated September 27, 1989 by the Local Water Utilities

In 1994, the District was a recipient of a grant from the German Kreditanstalt Fur Weideraufbau (KFW). As part of the Mt. Pinatubo Emergency Aide Programme, the said grant financed the first pump station facilities of SIWAD and a portion of its primary distribution lines. To fully utilize the KFW-funded facilities, the District in June 1996 availed a P1.383 Million level III loan from LWUA.
